Shingles

Many people think of homes when they consider shingle roofing.  That simply isn’t the case.  With a wide variety of styles, colors and options, a shingle roof may be perfect for your commercial business!

Shingles are very well suited for roofs with a steeper slope.  Shingles are installed in rows that overlap (sometimes called courses).  The installer starts at the eaves and works their way up the roof until reaching the roof ridge.  By overlapping in a downward angle, water is forced off the roof and into gutters, alleviating risk of water damage or leak development.

There are over 18 different shingle styles to consider.  With so many choices, a short list of the most popular is probably a good place to start.

Shingle Styles

Asphalt.  The basic asphalt shingle is the most common roofing material used in the United States.  Available in both single shingle and 3-tab options, the asphalt shingle offers durability, waterproofing and is highly economical.  High quality asphalt shingles have a lifespan of 15 to 30+ years, making them a sound long-term investment.

Architectural.  The architectural shingle offers even higher quality and durability than the traditional asphalt shingle due to a multi-layered design.  Available in a vast variety of colors and styles, some architectural shingles can mimic slate, ceramic tile, wood, shake and other looks or designs while maintaining the benefits of shingle roofing.

Metal.  Yes, you read that right.  Metal shingles are available and combine the strength and longevity of metal with the easy installation and waterproofing features of shingles.  Metal shingles come in different styles and designs including copper, ceramic tile, and other designer styles.  Available in various colors, selecting one that matches your business and your style isn’t a problem.

Ceramic.  Though most folks call them ceramic tiles, technically the tile really is a shingle as it is installed in the exact same fashion.  The ceramic shingle gives a Southwestern or Caribbean feel to its building.  Depending on your business or personal style, that may be what you’re looking for.  Ceramic tiles are durable, strong, and extremely weather resistant.

Wood.  Wood shingles are available in 2 primary styles, straight up wood and what are called “shake”, which looks like weathered wood.  Both are great at customizing the look and feel of your business.  While straight-up wood tends to feel organic and earthy, shake is more reminiscent of a rustic, old West sort of feel.  If properly maintained, wood shingles are highly durable and offer decades of longevity.

Services Offered

Regardless of the type of shingle you choose for your commercial building, we are here with the services you need to maintain that system and get all the years possible out of it.

Installation/Replacement.  Whether you have an existing shingle roof in need of full replacement or are looking at a new build requiring a shingle roof installation, we have the knowledge and experience to ensure the job is done properly the first time.

Repair.  Regardless of the quality of the shingle system, there are occasions when a repair may be necessary.  Storm damage, environmental issues and age are all culprits in shingle damage.  Locating the problem and properly repairing it is not for the untrained or the DIYer.

Inspection.  You should have your shingle roof inspected twice a year.  Why?  Outside of emergency storm damage, winter and summer extremes are the #1 culprit in reducing the efficacy of your shingle system.  Planning an inspection to ensure your system is in prime working order helps reduce the risk of catastrophic failure further down the road.

Maintenance.  Simply inspecting your roof, without providing for ongoing needed maintenance is a waste of your time and money.  The premise behind the inspection is to repair any little issues that may have appeared before they lead to wide-scale failure.
